[Caglist] Job posting: Assistant/Associate Professor, Geography, Penn State (Dynamics of Urban-Environmental Governance)

Hi all,

Please read below for an excellent job opportunity at The Pennsylvania State University.  Best, Kirby

The Department of Geography at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor rank. We seek an established scholar whose research is focused on the dynamics of urban-environmental governance. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work addresses resource use, management, and policy. Areas of investigation may include urbanization, social justice, globalization, and climate change. We encourage applications from scholars who use both qualitative and quantitative methods. Excellence in teaching, research, and service is expected, as is the development of an extramurally funded research program. We expect faculty to lead national and international initiatives at disciplinary intersections. Geography of global change is the department’s theme for four new hires, including this search. We have a broad view of causes and consequences of global change, and include sustainability, livelihoods, health, geopolitics, systems of production and consumption, water resources, ecosystems, and climate dynamics. We seek perspectives that span local to global levels across spatial and temporal scales. Applicants should upload: 1) a letter describing how they would contribute to the Department’s teaching and research program; 2) include in the letter a discussion of how their work fits with the Geography of Global Change theme; 3) a complete curriculum vitae; 4) a maximum of five reprints; and 5) the names and addresses (including e-mail and fax) of three to five references. Please combine the requested application materials into an appropriate number of PDF documents to upload into the system. Review of applications will begin January 15, 2015, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications from women and under-represented groups are encouraged. Questions about the position should be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Alan H. Taylor, Department of Geography, The Pennsylvania State University, 222 Walker Building, University Park, PA 16802; Phone: (814) 865-1509; Fax:(814) 863-7943; E-mail: aht1@psu.edu
