PhD/MS Positions: Landscape responses to fireThe Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Temple University seeksa motivated student interested in pursing PhD (Geosciences). The researchproject will investigate the applicability of novel techniques – rare earthelement tracers for soil erosion, and LiDAR (Ground-based & Unmanned AerialSystems) for soil microtopography and vegetation structure – to monitorlandscape responses to disturbances (fires). The project will involve acombination of extensive field experiments (in New Mexico) and laboratoryanalysis. The MS/PhD positions (Fall 2015) will be fully funded through researchand teaching assistantships. The student will be advised by Sujith Ravi(Temple University, PA http://ift.tt/1CwQWax) and will work inclose collaboration with Joel Sankey (USGS, Southwest Biological ScienceCenter, Flagstaff, AZ) and Junran Li (University of Tulsa, OK). Applicants for PhD program must hold a Master degree or equivalent in geology, earth science orenvironmental sciences, with strong oral and written communication skills.Experience in geochemical analysis (e.g. ICP-MS) and geostatistics is preferred.Temple University is a comprehensive public research university located inPhiladelphia, PA.
