Vacant Post – Lecturer in Geography (Environmental Geography) at NUI Galway



Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer (Below the Bar) in Geography (Environmental Geography) in the School of Geography & Archaeology at NUI Galway. An active research profile and a PhD (normally) along with appropriate teaching experience are essential for the post. We welcome applicants in all areas of Environmental Geography who can demonstrate collaborative ambition across a broad range of geographical approaches. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrable interest in contributing to and enhancing physical geography at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, design courses and supervise students from first year BA to PhD level, be involved in national and international field classes and administration and contribute to the clustered research activities of the Discipline, School and University. All members of staff in the School are involved in diverse research activities, many of which are supported by a wide range of funding agencies, ranging from the EU, national, regional and local bodies.

Salary: note:

€36,230 to €51,104 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)

(For pre 1995 public sector entrants in Ireland, the D class Salary rates will apply)
