University of Reading, Meteorology Department
2 x Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Earth Observation (RS14076)
We are seeking to recruit two talented, statistically literate researchers for a new European Commission “Horizon 2020” project to revolutionise the exploitation of Earth observations to quantify global climate change during the era of space-based remote sensing.
Working with Professor Chris Merchant, Dr Jon Mittaz and an international team, the successful candidates will
– help define and apply international best practice in creating climate data records that reflect the changes in Earth’s climate across the past four decades.
– help develop methods to quantify all aspects of the uncertainty of climate data records derived by remote sensing, to ensure the rigour of observational evidence relating to climate change.
– create new climate data records for satellite radiances and for quantifying the surface temperatures of Earth.
