Lecturer/Assoc Professor/Professor of Earth Observation with Satellite Radars
GE15095 University of Reading
New, long-term sustained, free, high-resolution Earth observations from the Copernicus space programme (in particular, the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 missions) will open up new opportunities for excellent science with societal impact, in particular at the weather-agriculture interface: understanding, modelling and monitoring farmed environments and crops, and increasing capability to analyse issues of climate and food security. The person appointed will have core expertise capable of exploiting these new datasets, collaborating across the university and using the observations to advance scientific understanding and to help to constrain models of the land surface, weather and climate. We are particularly interested in scientists with a track record in SAR analysis and applications to fill this important post. Depending on the seniority of the applicant, a Professor or Associate Professor will already have demonstrated international leadership, or Lecturer will have demonstrated leadership potential and a clear ability to attract research funding.
