Environmental Microbiology Lab Manager – Stanford Careers Job #69212The Dekas Laboratory at Stanford University seeks a research scientist to participate in cutting-edge research as well as oversee daily functioning of the laboratory. Research responsibilities may include local field sampling, set up and sampling of manipulation experiments, RNA/DNA extraction and processing, epifluorescence microscopy, cell culture, and geochemical and isotopic analyses. Managerial responsibilities will include purchase, set up and maintenance of laboratory equipment and software, managing supply of disposables, maintaining a safe working environment, enforcing laboratory safety protocols, and orienting new lab members. Enthusiasm for learning, leading organizational efforts, and contributing to a positive group dynamic is essential. Prior work experience in a molecular biology, microbiology, and/or geomicrobiology lab is required.Applicants seeking either full or part-time work will be considered, and should indicate their preference in their cover letter.
