Maynooth University is seeking a tenured appointment at the Professor
level in Earth Observation / Remote Sensing. Applications are invited
through April 10th and the appointment is expected to commence in
September 2016.

The appointment shall be in the School of Geography and shall interact
with both the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Units and the National
Centre for Geocomputation. The appointee shall be expected to further
strengthen our activities in the areas of Earth Observation, climate
research and geocomputation. Current employees variously head EO H2020
projects, sit as national representatives on ESA and Copernicus panels,
co-chair the GCOS Reference Upper Air Network, and contribute to
assessment activities such as IPCC. We run a highly successful masters
program in GIS and Remote Sensing.

Maynooth is situated 25Km west of Dublin with easy access to both Dublin
and Dublin airport as well as the Wicklow mountains, the coast and many
areas of natural beauty.

The successful candidate will be expected to be competetive for the
Science Foundation Ireland Research Professor funding scheme, which
would provide funding of up to 5 million euros over a five year period
to set up a group working in a research area of their choosing were they
successful.
