The Department of Earth & Planetary Science at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications
for a temporary instructor to teach EPS 20: Earthquakes in Your Backyard in the area of Geophysics with
an expected start date of July 1, 2016.
The class consists of 3 hours of lectures per week. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties
include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g.
syllabus), writing exams, managing GSIs, and maintaining course website. Additionally, there will be field
trips for the course that will require the preparation and participation of the lecturer.
Basic qualifications: A master’s degree or equivalent degree in Geophysics is required at time of
Salary: to be commensurate with experience. Minimum annual full time salary is $49,012. This
appointment will be part-time.
