Geomorphologist in USGS Maryland Water Science Center
A rare job
opportunity for a geomorphologist has opened up in the USGS office in Baltimore,
Maryland. We are looking for a research
geomorphologist with a least a master’s degree in geomorphology. Candidate will work on cutting edge science
of sediment fingerprinting and sediment budgets. Studies will consist
of research and monitoring oriented towards guiding management actions intended
to meet sediment TMDL’s, and or accomplish ecological goals of ecological
restoration. The position will assist in designing national studies and
interpreting data concerned with geomorphic ecosystem assessments.
should demonstrate strong field skills in geomorphological studies, in
designing studies to access geomorphic change, quantify sediment transport, and
sediment budgets. Strong statistical skills
with the ability to analyze data is essential.
Experience with sediment sourcing, sediment fingerprinting, and radionuclides
should be highlighted. Duties include field, lab, and general office
duties, with emphasis on writing scientific reports and peer-review journals, presenting
these results at national and international meetings, and interacting with
federal, state, and local partners. Candidate
will be expected to write and budget proposals.
