The Department of Geography at the University of Victoria invites
applications for two .75 FTE Limited Term Faculty positions at the
rank of Assistant Teaching Professor for a 9-month appointment to

will be requesting approval of the Provost to search for a tenure
track teaching/research stream position(s) following these limited
term appointments.
The positions include teaching of lower- and upper-level courses in
GIS and resources geography. Pending changes in the Department’s
teaching needs, the first position (LTF1) could be expected to teach
“Introduction to Maps and GIS” (two sections), “GIS Analysis,” “GIS
Applications and Tools,” “Advanced Topics in GIS,” and “Introductory
GIS for Graduate Research,” while the second position (LTF2) could
cover “Introduction to Environmental Management,” “Geography of
Canada,” “Geography of British Columbia,” “Environmental Impact
Assessment,” “Global Environmental Change and Human Response,”
“Water Resources Management,” “Environment and Sustainability in
Practice,” and “Advanced Seminar in Resource Management.”
Candidates will hold a PhD in Geography or a related field; ABD
candidates with expected completion date before September 2016 may
also be considered. The normal teaching assignment for these
positions consists of three courses in each of the Fall
(September-December) and Spring (January-April) terms. The
successful candidates should have demonstrated experience as
effective instructors of large undergraduate classes and in the
supervision of graduate assistants. Applicants must provide evidence
of currency in the teaching areas listed above.
Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter, detailed CV, teaching
dossier, and summary of research interests, and an indication of the
position they are applying for (LTF1 or LTF2), and the names of
three potential referees, at least one of whom can speak to the
applicant’s ability to teach undergraduate students. Academic
inquiries about these positions may be addressed to Dr. Johan
Feddema, Chair, Department of Geography, at geogchair@uvic.ca.
General inquiries should be sent to Diane Braithwaite, Department
Secretary, at dbraith@uvic.ca. To ensure full consideration,
applications must be received at geogchair@uvic.ca by June 24, 2016.
