The Department of Earth Sciences at Dalhousie
University seeks to fill a full-time instructor position in
the field of Geographic Information Systems. The successful
candidate will be responsible for teaching the concepts and
applications of GIS and remote sensing, and with the general
development of the GIS programme. In addition, he or she will
teach the use of other computer applications, assist in the
delivery of the department’s field schools, manage the GIS
laboratory and equipment, and support other teaching and
research in the Department.

Applicants must have a minimum of M.Sc. in
Earth Sciences or a closely related field, with relevant
experience teaching GIS and related concepts. In addition, the
successful applicant will have experience in one or more of:
government or industry employment, supervision of student
research projects, geophysical field methods and
instrumentation, operation and management of computer systems
and networks, and troubleshooting and repair of electronic
equipment.

The Instructor will also contribute to
Department, Faculty, and University committees and
administration as needed, especially in areas relevant to
undergraduate teaching. The Instructor will be actively
involved in Department outreach activities. Continuing
professional development, particularly in learning and
teaching, is strongly encouraged.
