We have two postdoctoral researcher positions open for suitably qualified candidates at the University of Waikato, Aotearoa/New Zealand. Both positions have a strong focus on agricultural greenhouse gas research utilising our network of six eddy covariance towers (and potentially future new sites). Two of our current sites are operating with Aerodyne quantum cascade laser closed path EC systems.
Position 1 (two years duration, link to vacancy number 380507) is for a researcher who will contribute to agricultural GHG research on drained peatlands used for dairy farming, as part of the FACCE::ERA-GAS PEATWISE project. We have recently established two new EC sites within commercial dairy farms on deep peat soils, including one site with an Aerodyne quantum cascade laser EC system (N2O/CH4/CO2/H2O fluxes). The overall goal of this research is to test the impact of different managed water table regimes on GHG emissions.
Position 2 (three years duration, link to vacancy number 380508) is for a researcher to contribute to our established programme of research on soil carbon and N2O fluxes on dairy farm systems with mineral soils, focused on developing and testing GHG mitigation solutions for NZ agriculture (visit NZAGRC).
Full position descriptions and advertisements, including key tasks and person specifications, are available at the above vacancy links. The salary ranges for both positions are NZ$74,034 to $89,163.
