Dear colleagues,
A Ph.D. position at the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, Indiana, USA) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is available starting in summer or fall 2019. Given the practical difficulties of making direct observations, this project focuses on using numerical simulations to study atmospheric turbulence near the ocean surface. I am looking for strong candidates with an interest in using numerical models to better understand the fundamental processes associated with transport in the region near ocean waves, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively with complementary laboratory experiments.
The student would ideally have a degree in physics, mechanical/civil engineering, or atmospheric sciences, and experience in computer programming would be preferred. The position nominally begins in the fall semester of 2019, but interested in candidates can begin during summer 2019. Funding is guaranteed throughout the entire Ph.D. program.
If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact David Richter (David.Richter.26@nd.edu) directly for more details.
Sincerely,
David Richter
