We would like to advertise a Computer Science engineer position at the CECI laboratory in Toulouse, France.
Mission:
In the context of the up coming Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission funded by CNES, NASA, CSA and UKSA space agencies, CNES is investing in the development of the downstream sector in connection with hydrological services. CECI with LNHE (EDF R&D) is contributing to this strategy by working on algorithms for estimating river discharges by assimilating SWOT water levels data. CECI is developing assimilation techniques adapted to future SWOT data and also tools to interface with the SWOT data simulator managed by CNES.The expected scientific objectives are: – have a set of realistic SWOT simulated data – development of the pre and post-processing associated with the use of the SWOT data simulator for 1D and 2D hydraulic models- set up assimilation schemes for the estimation of discharge from SWOT water levels
Skills:
The candidate must have skills in: – Geographic Information System and related software- Data processing- Scientific programming and calculation (Python, Fortran, shell)- Knowledge of fluid mechanics – Very good ability to work in a team, to capitalize on developments.
Work context:
The candidate will be located at CECI, he/she will work in collaboration with the teams of CNES, LNHE (EDF R&D in Chatou) and IRSTEA (in Montpellier). The CECI UMR is a research unit that brings together CERFACS (Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation Avancée en Calcul Scientifique, based in Toulouse, France) and CNRS. CERFACS brings together three interdisciplinary teams for both research and advanced training, including physicists, mathematicians, numerical analysts and computer scientists. CECI is part of the CERFACS Climate Modelling and Climate Change (GLOBC) research team.
