Research Fellow vacancy for “Sentinels of Wheat” project at University College London:
A Research Fellow is required to work on the Sentinels of Wheat (SoW) project aims to provide a system to monitor crops (mainly winter wheat) in the North China Plain, using a combination of satellite observations
and crop growth models. In particular, the project aims to exploit the combined information provided by ESA Sentinel 1 and Sentinel 2 sensors. These data are used within a data assimilation (DA) framework to update a crop growth model (e.g. the WOFOST crop
growth model). Using both SAR and optical data would add considerably to an existing system developed in an existing project jointly funded by STFC and NSFC, “Regional Crop Monitoring and Assessment with Quantitative Remote Sensing and Data Assimilation”,
which only considers Sentinel 2 data.
